If you are really looking for a fresh experience, the Snake Temple is your first stop thanks to its new Guardian and diverse rewards, including an Elbow Sculpture with a tile and the Guardian. A big impression left that impression was the Lizard Temple, both because it looks magnificent and has a Guardian in the back of the track. The new Research Tracks add new wrinkles to the experience, with new costs, rewards and mechanics. This time I got the challenge and the fresh perspective, and now I have my own understanding of the playing style. It wasn’t just for me to play The Mystic, as it seems like I was still bored of doing so. The good news is that you can exile Fear Cards a lot if you look at the various websites and the research track, both of which offer a multitude of opportunities to get Fear Cards off your deck into the Ritual pile. I had a bit more time to plan the things, so I wanted to keep it working as soon as possible, but I couldn’t decide. You can only win so many rewards a ritual, and you should exile them so you can do that. You can burn them in a ritual and doing that will give you a few different rewards. Even though the Mystic is paying attention to more cards than anyone else, most notably when it comes to each turn, it takes a little time for some to get used to. Some of these aren’t that useful in your hand and are worth the money and cost you a few points at the end of the game. The Mystic introduces the Ritual mechanic and relies largely on fear cards. That said, I wasn’t prepared for The Mystic. The Explorer was difficult at first, but eventually, I enjoyed it. You can even get a three-year-old snack token, which for one price allows you to explore the island more than anybody else, sometimes she uses her Starter Cards as a tool to activate sites and net the use of Idol effects on the board. This push and pull shows the greatest impact of other leaders, including The Explorer, who only has access to one archaeologist, but is able to use Snack Tokens to move to other locations. You could also save that Eagle movement card or Idol effect if you stay around.

Two of the abilities that are further down the tracker allow you to activate Level 1 and 2 sites if someone is occupying them or not, incredibly handy, but the earlier skills have the ability to be used as Free Actions and gain you Gold and Tablets.

This tile gives you unique access to a unique ability, but there are some other ways that may move the Eagle forward. The Falconer has a new Eagle tile, whose rotation is different from that of the other tracks. They are still a bit old-fashioned and provide a real twist to the gameplay, but in reality there are the three that shake things up a lot. The Captain is probably the easiest person to choose, given that he gives an additional archaeologist to search, while the Baroness and the Professor each provide benefits when acquiring items and artifacts respectively. You will notice how drastic this changes the turn and turn games are, and players from Leaders can select from the masked, Falconer, Baroness, Professor, Explorer and The Mystic. This time instead of starting the game with the same abilities and a nameless persona you’ll pick an individual leader whose each carries their own benefits, drawbacks and abilities. Lost Ruins of Arnak is an adventure that teaches you to discover ancient sites by studying them, and encounter the Guardians of these places, to gain resources, and conquer them and climb the Research Track in order to win the game over five rounds. The second game is a basic game for Expedition Leaders, but I don’t see where or where I won’t play Lost Ruins of Arnak in my home town. The new expansion lets any player play a unique character while some offer minor twists, others drastically alter the core playstyle, and that isn’t even because of the new research track, artifacts, items and more. The Lost Ruins of Arnak, a favorite of Czech Games Edition, was already popular for its classic sense of adventure and immersive mechanics, but instead of adding more content to the experience, a decision made by CGE decided to shake up how each player approaches the experience by extending the expedition leader’s expansion.
